Omaha Adult Entertainment: Improved treatment of victims noted
Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen Patrick O’Meara, who is based in Council Bluffs, lauded the Council Bluffs Police Department and Chief Ralph O’Donnell for their work uncovering a forced sex operation in January 2010.
A 21-year-old Omaha man was sentenced Monday to 11 years in prison for his role in the human trafficking operation. He was the fourth and final person to be sentenced in connection with the ring, which operated in Council Bluffs, Omaha and Sarpy County from August 2007 to June 2010.
Council Bluffs police discovered the ring during a sting in which they arrested one of the women forced to work as a prostitute..
“The woman was not just a prostitute but a victim, and law enforcement was willing to see something different in this case,” O’Meara said. “I take my hat off to the Council Bluffs Police Department; this case would not have happened but for diligent law enforcement. Your community is better because of their work.”
