Omaha Escorts: No liquor yet at lingerie store
The owner of an Old Market lingerie store will have to wait two weeks to find out if the City Council is willing to grant her a liquor license.
The council put off a decision Tuesday on whether to grant the license to Basic Tease Boutique.
The store at 512 S. 13th St. also sells sex toys, holds fashion shows and teaches pole dancing.
Council members postponed action on the proposal, asking the store’s owner to work with Old Market residents to explain plans for the business.
One of those residents, Douglas County Commissioner Mike Boyle, said he fears that the Old Market would become a “red light district” if the liquor license is granted.
Boyle, a former Omaha mayor, urged council members to vote down the liquor license. He also has objected to Sugar Daddy’s, another Old Market store that sells adult novelties and lingerie.
