Chef Chat: Guests are helping shape menu at Bellevue bistro
Military and civilian families have been finding their way to the Americana Bistro in Bellevue, where Ata Rodgers is a co-owner and chef, along with his mother, Guity Rodgers.
The restaurant and its adjoining Landing Strip bar opened about 18 months ago, and Rodgers, 29, continues to update his menu based upon what his guests appreciate most.
Q. Where are you from?
A. I was born and raised in Nebraska, in Bellevue mostly.
Q. Was your family military?
A. Yes, my dad was retired Air Force.
Q. How did you get interested in cooking?
A. I was always around food and cooking and worked in restaurants since I was old enough to work. I just love food. I love to make people happy with good food.
